Chirp Creek Farm is an organic, horse-powered and tractor-powered vegetable farm located in Lisbon, Maine. We grow for our CSA, farmer's markets, local restaurants, and wholesale. We are hiring one full time crew members for the 2022 season and beyond. Compensation is $15-17/hr dependent upon experience. The farm crew is involved in all aspects of the farm's day-to-day operation including seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvest, cleaning, and packing produce as well as staffing our farmers markets and selling produce to eager customers!
Qualifications
Prior farming experience or familiarity with outdoor work is preferred. Prior experience in service/retail is also preferred. While we often work together, all applicants must have the ability to work dependably alone or as a team.
Farm work is challenging, sometimes fast paced, and always variable, requiring that workers be flexible, motivated, and positive in the face of changing conditions. All applicants must possess good communication skills, ability to follow directions, attention to detail, and a good work ethic.
Farm work is physically demanding and dirty, requiring the ability to lift fifty lbs and work quickly and efficiently in conditions that are often muddy, dusty, wet, hot, cold, buggy, and windy. In addition, reliability is extremely important. Our team is small and every member matters, therefore it's important to have a reliable vehicle, give advance notice of days off, and show up on time and ready to go.
Details
For this position we are hoping to find somebody who is confident with running a farmers market three days a week and working as a farm hand for two days of the week. The workdays would be Tuesday through Saturday each week. We aim to stick to seven or eight hour days for employees (with rare exceptions).
